66th Battalion

Names and Details of those 2/15th Battalion members
who enlisted in the 66th Infantry Battalion

A work in progress - contributions sought!  Corrections welcome too.

The 66th Battalion was formed in 1945 from volunteers from the 9th Division - including members of the 2/15th and other battalions that were in the 20th Brigade.  It served in Japan as part of the BCOF, and in 1948 became the second battalion of the (Royal) Australian Regiment (RAR).

This provides a strong link between the 2/15th Infantry Battalion of World War 2 and today's 2RAR.

The initial set of names was obtained by comparing the 2/15th Member Roll with the list of RAR fatalities that is shown at the National Memorial Walk at Enoggera Barracks in Brisbane.  More names have since been obtained, and there is sure to be others.

Some research is needed into why these members enlisted into what became 2RAR, yet they are recorded as dying whilst in 3RAR.
